How to make spicy Cajun Fried Rice

Spicy Cajun Fried Rice is a flavorful and satisfying dish that combines the bold flavors of Cajun seasoning with rice and vegetables. This recipe is easy to prepare and perfect for a quick and filling meal.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 1/2 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb. chicken breast, diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or more to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions and parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large wok or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  2. Add the diced chicken to the same pan and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  3. Add the butter to the pan and melt over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the garlic, Cajun seasoning, paprika, and cayenne pepper to the pan and cook for another minute, stirring constantly.
  5. Add the cooked rice to the pan and stir to combine with the vegetables and seasoning. Cook for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Add the cooked chicken and shrimp back into the pan and stir to combine with the rice and vegetables. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  7. Taste the fried rice and season with salt and pepper as needed.
  8. Serve the spicy Cajun fried rice hot, garnished with chopped green onions and parsley.
